QUALIFICATIONS

Robert Walton is a Registered Consulting Arborist(#394) with the American Society of Consulting Arborists and a Certified Arborist (#WC-0192) with the International Society of Arboriculture. He is also a state licensed contractor (#429630) in the tree service trade. Robert has been in the tree service industry since 1978.

As a consultant, Bob is committed to the preservation and protection of our urban forest, the quality of life it provides and its historical heritage. Bob has consulted on several historical trees in regards to their preservation.

  • The Poway sycamore, Plantanus racemosa, which is a national champion big tree.
  • The Kate Session tree, Tipauana tipu, at the historic site of one her nursuries.
  • The "Teddy Roosevelt" ficus, Ficus macrophylla, in Pacific Beach.
  • The Morton Bay fig, Ficus macrophylla,at 3rd & Grape, San Diego, planted in 1885, a registered historical tree.

One of his goals is to continue to improve the quality of tree care in San Diego. He has demonstrated this by being one of seven founding members of the Professional Tree Care Association of San Diego County (PTCA) founded in 1985. He was also the first Certified Arborist in the county. Bob has taught at many PTCA seminars and meetings as well as a regional seminar of the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and a meeting of the Urban Forest Council.
